Townsville and the district were truly blessed when Robyn and husband Doug Gilchrist created the Croft Gilchrist School Of Dancing. From the central location all lovers of dance, from tiny tots, teenagers and even adults, could learn professional dance skills from the principal of the school, Robyn Croft, a foundation member of the Australian Ballet and dancer in the Royal Ballet.
With well over 50 years experience, Townsville is fortunate to be able to learn from our expertise. Robyn has enjoyed the privilege of helping many others develop the extra confidence, poise and better co-ordination using the art of dance. Many of her students have made a career out of their developed skills. Many others have used these talents in associated fields and others have just simply enjoyed their new found creativity as part of a richly rewarded lifestyle.
Robyn Croft has a passion for dance and this is melded into all of her students – either the young or young at heart.

Everything you need to know before your first class
What age can my child start dance?
Our Tiny Tots and Dance with Me classes welcome children from 2 years old. From age 4 there are ballet, jazz/tap, contemporary and hip hop classes available.
How much are dance classes in Townsville?
Fees depend on style, level and number of classes. See our Fees page for the current term’s pricing and family discounts.
Where are you located?
We are at 36 French St, Pimlico, Townsville QLD 4812. Free parking is available on site.
Do students take exams?
Yes. Ballet students are entered for Royal Academy of Dance examinations, and Jazz & Tap follow the Australian Dance Association syllabus. Highland students can sit VSDA examinations.
Can adults learn dance?
Absolutely. We offer adult ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop for complete beginners through to advanced dancers.
